I worry about someone stealing my bike rack from the roof of my car?
Or more specifically, the accessories of the bike rack that is expected. They are only days with some screws. Should I be worried and people steal these things? My dad suggested using a bonding agent on the screws to be permanent, but if I do I will not be able to make adjustments for different sizes of bicycles.
Avoid cola .. at some point have to adjust or remove the grill. Racks may be subject to a harsh reality to a thief. You can find a way to make it unattractive to steal one by one) with normal hex instead of plastic "plate" screws that come with the frame, or b) Steel epoxy eye to the frame and then fasten with a cable to the roof. To complete: A good practice not to leave the bicycle rack car overnight, even if it is locked on, and some high-crime areas may not be safe even in daylight. That said, the thieves are more likely to steal expensive or cheaper bicycles or desirable for the less popular types, so to some extent precautions you take may be based on the circumstances. Usually there are inserts for roof racks block trade (for example, Thule, Yakima), but it must also be able to lock your bike to the rack (which is inserted in the roof). I personally do not block the bike while driving, but if you stop for a period of time unattended in the car will finish a good cable lock through the bike frame, wheels and roof bars (closed) top. You can not prevent a thief very determined, but unattractive and can persuade the most burglars look for easy prey. Hope that helps.
